My new BSNL 3G Datacard is not getting detected on my PC & Laptop running WinXP Prof (32bit OS).I noticed that it works perfectly on a 64bit operating system. On plugging in my new BSNL 3G datacard 7.2Mbps (LW273 V1.2) no self installation happens. The details of my device are as below:Mfg Date: 2010.11Hardware version: V1.0Software version: LW272 V1.2IMEI: 88877a) The device does not auto install on my laptop which is having legal version of Windows XP SP 2If I put in a Micro SD card and connect, the memory card gets detected.Without the Micro SD card no drive is listed in the Windows Explorer on connecting the device.b) I verified that the SIM card is active by making a telephone call from it. I also contacted BSNL helpdesk who verified that the SIM card was active.c) I subsequently installed the software version available in the manufacturer site (Teracom) in the below URL which is for LW272 V1.0. Even then, on connecting the device no network is detected.d) The installer for LW273 V1.2 on not available on the website and the phone and email contacts given in the site do not work. The spport phone number (0-2) but the number does not seem to be valid.Regards,Koshy A Joseph.
I will tell you this secret, if you pay me Very simple - go to BSNL office and say that this device is not getting recognized on Windows XP (DO NOT TELL THEM THAT IT WORKS ON 64-BIT WINDOWS 7).They will verify the device on their computer (which will 200% be Windows XP or Windows 2000). The device will not work and you will get a replacement.Remember - do not tell them that it works on Windows 7 64-bit. This will go into a different route and you have to explain them 32bit vs 64bit and what not. On the Technical front - I agree with suggestion by Indian.Maveric.
You must upgrade from Windows XP SP2 to Windows XP SP3. 1) Got a call from BSNL to update me that my 3G connection has been activated (activation happened 4 days ago). Thanks anyway BSNL2) Tried copying the 32bit driver files but it did not work.3) My system was actually WinXP SP3 (sorry for the wrong info earlier)4) On the laptop, with some tips from a friend, uninstalled a recent driver installation and automatically the BSNL datacard software started autoinstalling. But eventually some other driver got installed.5) I had taken the device to the BSNL office. It worked fine there 6) I am planning to sell the device to a friend where the device is working fine. I guess it is some clashing existing device drivers that has messed up.I guess if a little more robust software from BSNL & its partners would have saved me a lot of trouble. Thanks a lot guys for the responses/suggestions.Regards,Only.
